1.0 Purpose

The purpose of this risk assessment is to highlight the potential risks to guests when staying at the property

The virus is spread in minute water droplets that are expelled from the body through sneezing, coughing, talking and breathing and can be transmitted to any surface the person is near or touches. A person touching their mouth, nose and eyes may transmit the virus to themselves.

 

The aspirated virus may be transmitted through a person’s mouth, nose and eyes.

 

The virus can be transferred to the hands, from surface to surface and from person to person. It is also possible to transfer it from person to surface and surface to person. It can survive on surfaces for a period after transfer (depending on such things as the surface type, its moisture content and temperature).

 

Touching the mouth, nose and eyes can increase the risk of infection after touching someone or something which has the virus on their person or surface.

 

The mitigation approaches contained in this risk assessment seek to minimise the risk to any person entering the property

 

This risk assessment aims to minimise the likelihood of person from contracting COVID 19 as a direct result of staying at the property, as long as they adhere to the mitigations laid out in this risk assessment.

 

This risk assessment concludes: That if COVID19 is passed from one person to another or by any other transmission route, while many people survive infection, some may die from the disease. It should be regarded as a high-risk hazard and that transmission may occur without effective mitigation.

The risk rating: HIGH (H) is based on no mitigation and the outcome being HARMFUL and LIKELY.

Appendix A - Taigh Morag Enhanced Cleaning Procedures

STEP 1:  PREPARE             

  • Wait for 2 hours after guests have left before entering the property.
  • Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and warm water.
  • Before entering put on a mask, apron, gloves and shoe covers.
  • Ventilate by opening windows.
  • Gather any necessary equipment.
  • Gather the cleaning supplies, including approved disinfectant.

 

First you clean, then you sanitize

Cleaning – remove germs and dirt from surfaces using a soapy sponge

to wipe off surfaces.

Sanitize – use chemicals to reduce the number of germs and bacteria.

Spray on high-touch surfaces.

 

STEP 2:  CLEAN - dust and debris

  • Empty all bins and line with fresh bags.
  • Dust, sweep and vacuum all floors.
  • Wash all dishes and empty the dishwasher.
  • Clean all hard surfaces with soap and water.
  • Spot clean soft surfaces.
  • Wash all linens at 60 degree full cycle.

               

STEP 3:  SANITIZE – with disinfectant

  • Once a surface is clean, spray with disinfectant.
  • Let the disinfectant work, keep wet for the time specified.
  • Allow to air dry.
  • When using wipes, use one wipe per surface.

STEP 4: CHECK

  • Double-check that frequently touched surfaces have been sanitised (see list below).
  • Review the rooms.
  • Note any maintenance issues.
  • Take a note of any cleaning products or disinfectants that need to be replenished.

 

STEP 4: RESET the room

  • Wash your hands and put on clean gloves before refilling guest supplies, towels and linens.
  • Close the door, disinfect the doorknob, and do not re-enter the space after sanitizing.
  • Setout a cleaning care package for guests with sanitizer and extra hand soap.
  • Leave a cleaning summary for guests.
  • Safely dispose of or wash cleaning supplies and protective gear.
